Specialty Referrals
The Specialty services at MVSES operate Monday through Friday and see patients with scheduled appointments.
If your pet has been referred for specialty care, please call our office at (502) 266-7007. A CCS team member will create an account with your information, then transfer you to a voicemail for the department related to your pet’s needs. To optimize client/patient care, each department schedules their own appointments.
When leaving a message, please include:
- Your full name
- Your Pet’s name and a brief description of the reason for referral
- Your phone number
A team member in the department you are being referred to will return your call, typically within 24 hours Monday through Friday, to schedule your appointment. In the meantime, please have your primary veterinarian email your pet’s medical records to vets@metrovetlouisville.com
Emergency Referrals
Appointments are not required for the Emergency Department. However, if you are being referred by your primary veterinarian, following these steps can help expedite your visit:
- Ask your primary veterinarian to call us at (502) 266-7007 to consult directly with one of our emergency veterinarians.
- After the consultation, your veterinarian will receive a treatment estimate for your pet’s care.
- Please have your veterinarian email your pet’s medical records, x-rays, and diagnostic results to vets@metrovetlouisville.com.
- If possible, bring a hard copy of your pet’s records when you arrive.
- Upon arrival, please call our front desk at (502) 266-7007 to check in and begin the triage process.
The Emergency Department operates on a triage system, meaning the most critical patients are seen first. The information from you and your primary veterinarian helps us determine the appropriate level of care for your pet.
